Saturday. Bonchida. Bánffy #1

music: Wildbirds and Peacedrums - The Wave

Bonțida (Bonchida in Hungarian) is sorta halfway between my hometown and Cluj, yet I haven't been there till now. So, the Bonchida Days was a good excuse to go; plus, I wanted to check out the flea market - unfortunately, it was mostly overpriced junk. Even the postcard I bought was overpriced, and I didn't see anything else that I would've wanted to buy (except for that Polaroid camera in the 4th pic, but where would I find film for it?)

Too bad it was so cloudy... my pics of the Bánffy Castle are so blah.

(Is it pretentious of me to start a photo Tumblr - taking into consideration the fact that I have a toy camera and that I lack any sense of visual aesthetics? I guess it is... but even though I looove Flickr, it would be ridiculous to pay that fee just to have my silly pics online. Well, anyways: I'll try to keep it somewhat coherent, and less chaotic than my Flickr.)

J'ai demandé à la Lune

music: Indochine - J'ai demandé à la Lune

One of these mornings I was so surprised to see the Moon still up on the sky (okay, not that up) at 6.30 a.m. And the next morning, at around 5 a.m., she was hiding behind the clouds; I just love that dark shade of blue - it reminds me of primary, when we would paint the sky with stars using blue ink.

I really enjoyed this segment of Passe-moi les jumelles: Enfants de Lune.

Scenes from a train #4

music: Jónsi - Sinking Friendships

These pics are from August 7th. I'm only posting them now because, well, I've become really lazy at this blogging thing. I was thinking about writing a story about the Mocănița, but at this point, I don't think that's gonna happen. I was brave enough to approach the mechanic and ask him a couple of questions, but gosh, it was so embarrassing - I really have no idea how to do this reporting thing, and I don't think I'll ever be capable of interviewing anyone. The only more or less interesting question I could think of was the one I didn't ask - when you live in a place like this how does it feel to see all these people coming and going? But maybe I didn't ask this question because I realize how unclear it is; I'm not even sure where I'm going with this. Anyways... this was the nicest train trip ever! and maybe the only trip where the destination didn't matter at all - it was all about the journey.

Los Desaparecidos y el coyote

music: Bright Eyes - Coyote Song

+ videos taken from here
+ Making music for a cause, Oberst and friends unite
+ Conor Oberst Reunites Desaparecidos for Nebraska Concert for Equality
+ Bright Eyes Anti-Arizona Song Due

Seeing Conor with Bright Eyes and Desaparecidos in Omaha must be an amazing experience! I don't think there's anything that could top that for a fan. I'm so excited about the new Bright Eyes song, and I hear they're already in the studio recording the new album (I still hope it won't be their last). But I'm also worried that I won't be able to see them live if they start touring this fall... It would be tragic to miss their last tour!
